Customizable floor heating solution for private label partners
OJ Electronics have been developing electronic controls for underfloor heating for more than half a century. Focusing on helping business partners, OJ Electronics needed a design reflecting the challenge of creating a simple solution for different private label partners, with the wish to customize digital products depending on their brand.
Design-People’s involvement in designing the new UWG5® thermostat experience, was to help OJ Electronics create a platform that is flexible and customizable. Shaping a solution where global design styles can be changed depending on the clients needs and wishes.
The solution manifest itself in a connected product experience between the physical and digital world. A sleek and simple thermostat and a user centric app in a universal and slightly anonymise design, connecting the experience that creates the foundation for a customizable OEM solution.
OJ Electronics have a great know-how internally with in-house ressources from innovation to implementation. Design-People was the link between the vision and the reality, helping maintain and find sustainable compromises between business goals, user experience and implementation constraints.
Through weekly reviews and scrum meetings, our design team played a big role in facilitating an iterative process. Design and implementation progressed concurrently, exploring and testing ad hoc. This approach ensured a seamless transition from the initial concept to the finished product.
